Unleash Destruction with Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition’s Skillshot System

There’s a lot that sets Bulletstorm apart from the pack of typical first-person shooters. Its most unique feature is the gameplay itself, whereby players perform Skillshots in order to rack up points. With these points, players can purchase ammo and upgrades from Dropkits scattered throughout the game.

“So”, you may ask, “what’s a Skillshot”? In short, Skillshots and their corresponding point values are awarded when a player kills an enemy in a very specific way. Some Skillshots are tied to certain weapons, while some are tied to unique environmental features found on Stygia. We’ll dig a bit more into some specific Skillshots and how to pull them off, but a general rule of thumb is that killing your enemies as creatively as possible is always a good idea. If there’s one thing that Bulletstorm has plenty of, it’s creative opportunities, so get in there, try lots of different things, and see what works!

It’s pretty easy to define a Skillshot, but the fun part is discovering them as you progress through the campaign and Echoes maps. It’s not uncommon to be surprised with a new Skillshot that you may not have seen before. This is great, not only because it keeps the game fresh, but also because Skillshots are exciting… and that excitement is infectious! Co-op mode offers exclusive Skillshots that you and your friends can perform together, presenting players with the ultimate co-op experience and make competing with friends (and beating their scores) even more satisfying.

As you play Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, you’ll become better and better at Skillshots, and it won’t take you long to start pulling off some out-of-this-world combos. The hardest part will be choosing your favorite Skillshot! Just ask the team at Gearbox Publishing — choosing a favorite can be tough, but everyone finds one eventually!

“Hands down, my favorite Skillshot is “Burn” (killing multiple enemies with a charged Boneduster shot). It’s simple name belies a devastatingly effective attack. Charge the Boneduster, line up your shot, and watch as every enemy within range is instantaneously burned to ashes!” – Meredith Hershey, Production Assistant

“For me it’s gotta be Mercy – what’s better than shooting someone where they pee, watching them writhe around in agony on their knees, before kicking or shooting them in the face? It also happens to be one of the few Skillshots that you can set up and have a good 5-8 seconds to reallllllllllly decide how you want to end them.” – Sean Ahern, Marketing Creative

“It’s hard to choose, but I love both Fly Guy (flinging an enemy into a swarm of electro flies) and Fish Food (kicking someone into piranha-infested waters). They’re great displays of how dangerous Stygia is—even the wildlife is out to get you!” –  Elisa Meléndez, New Media Manager

“My favorite is Gunslinger. First, because it’s from the Screamer, which is my favorite weapon in the game. Second, because nothing makes you feel like an uber-efficient badass death machine like clearing a room by one-shotting all the enemies and having “Gunslinger” pop up during the carnage!” – Vincent Slaven, PR Manager

“My favorite Skillshot has got to be “Sausage Fest” (kill an enemy by blowing up a hot dog cart). I mean, what’s not to love? The name is great, it’s fun to pull off, and when the cart explodes, sausages fly everywhere! Yummy!” – Joe King, Community Manager

If these Skillshots sound awesome to you, then you’re in luck, because we’re just scratching the surface! There are dozens and dozens of them and they only get wilder as you go along! With such a diverse group of weapons, enemies, and environments, that’s not a surprise. Having access to all weapons in Overkill campaign mode means you can quickly transition from getting a “Breakdance” with the Penetrator, to pulling off a sweet stack of “French Revolutions” (BIG points) with the Flailgun. If you’re looking to compete with your friends, hop into Echoes mode and figure out the best tactics to maximize your score and still make it out with the fastest time! If you’re pumped to join the carnage on April 7th when Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition launches on Xbox One, PlayStation® 4, and Windows PC, remember – Skillshots are just one piece of the explosive puzzle.
